Welcome to Support Work

The module takes a support worker through a day supporting two clients over three short shifts. It is designed to give anyone who is thinking about becoming a support worker a chance to see what a good day could look like, but also to weed out anyone who is completely unsuitable for support work, saving wasted time in recruitment and onboarding.

A collection of scenarios covering how to work professionally in your support role.

Behaviours that Challenge Foundations

This module provides introductory training in positive behaviour support. Complete a collection of scenarios supporting people whose behaviours may challenge you.

Behaviours that Challenge Intermediate

This module provides intermediate level training in positive behaviour support. Complete a collection of scenarios supporting people whose behaviours may challenge you.

Disability Specific Violence and Aggression

This module is designed to give disability support workers the skills to prevent and respond to violence and aggression in the workplace. After completing this module, workers should be able to perform dynamic risk assessments to reduce their risk while at work and use the REAL communication system to prevent and de-escalate violence and aggression on the job.

Mental Health Awareness

This module is designed to provide disability support workers with an introductory understanding of mental health. After completing this module, workers should understand their responsibilities and the limits of their role in recognising and responding to mental health distress on the job.

PPE Droplet Precautions

This module provides training on Personal Protective Equipment for droplet virus precautions and preventing the spread of infection.

Manual Handling 101

This module is designed to provide you with the foundational knowledge and skills you need to maintain safety for yourself, and others who may be affected, when performing tasks that require lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling in the delivery of disability support services.

Disability Awareness

This module will provide a broad overview of disability and is designed for frontline workers ways to learn how to engage with people with disability more confidently and effectively in an interactive manner.
